Indian Silk Export Promotion Council: Steps
to register
For smooth functioning of the silk industry, Indian Silk Export Promotion Council was set up to encourage silk exporters and manufacturers to sell internationally. In this blog, learn about the council and how to export silk from India.
There’s no doubt that Indian silk textiles and accessories are widely known and purchased across the world. Owing to its rich colors, intricate designs and skilful artisanal work, silk apparel is increasing gaining popularity, leading to higher demand in the international markets. To ensure smooth functioning of the silk export industry and maintain trade relations with other importing countries, the Indian Silk Export Promotion Council (ISEPC) was set up under the Companies Act by the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India.
How to register with Indian Silk Export Promotion Council?
You can register and apply for Registration-Cum-Membership-Certificate (RCMC) online on the ISPEC website easily. Below are the steps for you to register:
1. Click on ‘New Registration’ tab on the ISEPC website.
2. Fill all the required details as per the latest Importer-Exporter Code (IEC) certificate issued by the DGFT.
3. Pay the required membership fee.
4. Read all the details and upload all applicable documents under the required headings.
5. Preview the ‘Application Form’ before submission
6. You will receive acknowledgement email after submission of the Membership Application form.
7. The Membership Certificate (RCMC) will be issued in the required category to successful applicant. Once RCMC is issued, e-Certificate will be mailed to you on your registered and notified email id.

Role of ISEPC in silk export from India
The main activities and role of ISPEC are2:
• Conduct market surveys to identify export potential products
• Establish contacts with the perspective importers to generate their interest in Indian silk products
• Conduct buyer-seller meets for its member exporters
• Organize silk fairs and exhibitions in India
• Assist for exporters to participate in trade fairs and exhibitions abroad
• Resolve trade disputes between exporters and importers
• Conduct workshops and seminars on various trade and policy related topics for member exporters

Register your business
First, you must register your export business with Amazon Global Selling. You don’t have to be an existing Amazon India seller. The registration can be done online on Seller Central. You’ll need the following documents to register:
• ID proof (Aadhar, driving license or passport)

List your products
Once you have successfully registered to sell globally on Amazon, you can list your products. Remember to follow tips on how to list your products include attractive pictures and descriptions that’s clear to international customers. You can also seek help from third party service providers.
Ship and receive payments
Once a customer places an order, you can choose to deliver by yourself or you can opt for Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA). Under FBA, Amazon takes care of shipping, delivery, returns and customer concerns. Once a customer purchases your product, Amazon credits the money in your bank account in the currency of your choice.
