What is listing?

To start selling on Amazon global marketplaces, you first need to list products on Amazon. You can either match an existing product listing (if somebody else is already selling the same product on Amazon), or create a new listing (if you are the first or only seller). The specific way sellers upload and list their products varies depending on their selling plan. To put it simply: Sellers using a Professional seller account have the option of listing their products in large batches using bulk uploading or inventory management with third-party systems, while Individual sellers list products one at a time.

To list your product, you need to have your product SKU details (e.g. Barcode, UPC, EAN) and in some cases, product information (features, model number, size, expiry date, etc).

What you need to start listing products

In most cases, products must have a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), such as a UPC, an ISBN, or an EAN. Amazon uses these product IDs to identify the exact item you’re selling. If you match a listing, you won’t need to provide a product ID since it already exists. If you’re adding a product that’s new to Amazon, you may need to purchase a UPC code or request an exemption.

In addition to a product ID, here’s some of the important information that goes into each product listing:
• SKU
• Product title
• Product description and bullet points
• Product images
• Search terms and relevant keywords

How to list a product on Amazon marketplaces?

To list your products on Amazon global marketplaces, you can either find your products if they are already selling on Amazon or create a new product page if your products are not yet available on Amazon marketplaces (shopping sites). To showcase your products, you need to list them from your Seller Central account in one of these ways:
For products that are available on Amazon marketplaces
Search and match product
Adding a new offer by matching or scan the product barcode or ISBN using the Seller App
For new products as well as existing ASINs
Upload listings in bulk
Upload details in bulk using standard and custom upload templates
For new products, not yet listed on Amazon
Create a new product listing
Create a new listing by uploading product images and fill in the details

How to search and match products?

If the product you want to sell is already listed on Amazon global marketplaces, all you have to do is select the product, add the price at which you want to sell the product, and the number of units that you want to sell. This is ideal for sellers who have few products (less than 50-100) to list per month.

For finding the match to your product, you can use UPC/EAN, product name, model number, Brand name etc., and add your price and quantity if the product you wish to list and sell is an exact match of the existing ASIN on Amazon.
Adding a new offer - Search for your product
Search for your product using product name, UPC, EAN or ISBN
Adding a new offer - Scan product barcode

Amazon jargon:

ASIN

ASIN stands for Amazon Standard Identification Number and is a 10-character that is generated automatically. It is an alphanumeric identifier that helps with product identification from the catalog. But if you are creating a new listing, your product will automatically be given a new unique ASIN.

How to list your products in bulk?

Sellers using a professional seller account have the option of listing their products in large batches using bulk uploading or inventory management. If you want to sell your products in bulk (100-1,000 products), you can upload products under two categories — a new product on Amazon or an already existing Amazon product.

You can use inventory file templates to list your products in Amazon.in. You can create a template to suit your specific requirements and list different types of products across multiple categories using one custom template.

Create a new listing

If your product is currently not available for sale on Amazon marketplaces, you will need to create a new listing, so that customers can find all the relevant information about it. When you list a product on Amazon, it automatically generates an ASIN (Amazon Standard Identification Number).

Creating a new product on Amazon marketplace requires you to provide product information and images as per Amazon style guides. Here are some of the details required for a new listing:

How to list products that do not have barcode?

Amazon uses product IDs to identify the exact item being sold. If you match a listing, you won’t need to provide a product ID since it already exists. If you’re adding a product that’s new to Amazon, you may need to purchase a UPC code or request an exemption.

If the product you sell does not have a barcode or a Global Trade Item Number (GTIN), you can request a GTIN exemption to sell your products on Amazon international marketplaces. Once we have reviewed and approved your application, you will be able to list your products.
