How is FBA different in India than other marketplaces?
The Indian regulations do not permit global entities to engage in direct B2C (business to customer) retail. Amazon India team assists brands by connecting them with an Indian 3rd party company who help with listing their selection in the FBA model. Outside of this model, out of country brands can launch on FBA by: (a) setting their own entity in line with the FDI norms or (b) partnering with a distributor/Amazon in an outright purchase model.
What can I sell in India?
You can sell and create listings for all your North American products and for any new products, but certain categories are restricted and require prior approval before you can start selling. Amazon product categories include: Apparel, Automotive, Baby Products, Batteries, Beauty, Books, Consumables, Consumer Electronics (including Cameras and Video Games - Consoles), Digital Accessories (including Mobile Accessories, Electronics Accessories and PC Accessories), Groceries, Home, Jewelry, Kitchen, Luggage, Mobile Phones, Movies, Musical Instruments, Office and Stationary, Personal Care Appliances, Personal Computers, Pet Supplies, Software, Shoes and Handbags, Tablets, Toys, Video games (consoles and games) and Watches.
What are the requirements to become an FBA seller for IN marketplace?
To become an FBA seller for IN marketplace, you need to connect with a 3rd party company. The third party company will check your business verification documents and products and help you guide on the listing. You would need to work with these service providers to maintain your inventory in Amazon FCs and sell in India.
I do not speak English. Are there any language requirements for selling in India?
Amazon requires the listings and customer support (delivery and product related) be provided in English, but you need not to worry, many sellers handle language requirements through a mix of Amazon’s translation support tools and/or external 3rd party translation service providers.
